Our client is a very reputable midtown firm with an exceptional client base. Due to increased work flow, it seeks two further associates with 3pqe+ to join its Commercial Litigation team.

The team handles a full range of complex, high value and sensitive litigation matters, often with an international element.They have significant experience across a broad array of issues, for example disputes arising out of breaches of contract, professional negligence, regulatory breaches and financial mis-selling, fraud and asset tracing, the provenance and authenticity of artwork, the recovery of stolen art, shareholder claims including unfair prejudice petitions and derivative actions, breaches of employment contracts, and insolvency.

Clients include businesses (private companies, family businesses and partnerships), financial institutions (private banks, asset managers and wealth managers), individuals (HNW and UHNW individuals, family offices, established entrepreneurs, senior executives, investors and art collectors) and institutions (cultural institutions, universities and schools).

You will be dealing with a range of disputes for the firm's clients, which typically translates into a highly varied and interesting "generalist" practice. The caseload is of a very high quality and for the most part the opposite parties in the dispute are represented by City firms.

The successful candidates will:
*assist in managing a busy client portfolio dealing with large, complex and cross-border contentious matters.
*run their own (generally smaller value cases), having sole responsibility subject to 'light touch' oversight from the partners;
*on a day-to-day basis, this will involve drafting correspondence (including both advisory and contentious communications), dealing with disclosure, drafting witness statements, attending meetings and hearings, and negotiating etc;
*there is likely to be significant client exposure and responsibility from the start; and there will be a BD element to the role, therefore a willingness to write articles and prepare marketing documentation, give talks, attend events (both in house and externally) and attend pitches is necessary.

It would also be helpful to have experience in:
*data, IT and tech-related disputes; and/or
*financial services enforcement and regulatory investigations, and disputes with financial institutions. A secondment in house with a bank or major financial institution would be particularly advantageous.
