Locum Regulatory Solicitor, Devon

Our client, a leading organisation in Exeter have an urgent requirement for a Locum Regulatory Solicitor/Legal Executive to join their team.

This locum assignment is to cover sickness leave and is to start as soon as possible for a minimum of 3-6 month.

You will be working closely with the Legal team and will take responsibility of an existing caseload. Duties will include;

  • To represent members in respect of regulatory proceedings arising out of the NHS and Independent healthcare sectors charges of alleged professional conduct to include any appeals in the High Court.
  • To instruct advocates in respect of regulatory proceedings arising out of the NHS and Independent healthcare sectors charges of alleged professional misconduct
  • To provide advice and representation to members in other Regulatory matters such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) cases, including representations and appeals in barring cases and in challenging DBS enhanced disclosure entries (including Judicial Reviews).
  • To manage a caseload and, in conjunction with lawyers and support staff within the department, to work as part of the HQ regulatory law team and the wider Legal Directorate.
  • To refer cases of members charged with criminal offences to private agent solicitors, and to manage those files as may be necessary
  • To advise and support members, Regional Officers, and Stewards, on all issues of regulatory law, together with other aspects of the law as it affects nurses and nursing, from time to time, in particular professional conduct matters, but also in relation to Criminal Injuries Compensation claims, criminal cases, Ill Health Retirement and NHS Injury Benefit Pensions, and health law matters generally.
  • To ensure the delivery of quality and cost effective legal services to members, demonstrating the efficient use of resources, in accordance with the terms of the client's membership contract, professional standards and departmental strategic objectives

The client is happy to consider full-time or part-time hours. The role needs to be based on site but the hours can be worked in any pattern the locum lawyer chooses.
