As a Professional Support Lawyer (Dispute Resolution team) at Burges Salmon, we will provide you with a collaborative, friendly and sociable setting in which to thrive and realise your potential.

This is a 3 days per week (21 hours), part-time role. 


Burges Salmon, is based in Bristol’s city centre 2 minutes stroll from Temple Meads train station. Here, you will be in the heart of Bristol with easy access to some of the best attractions the city has to offer, including the theatre, shopping, restaurants, museums and art galleries.


You will join a successful 75-strong, market-leading team of dispute resolution lawyers with a strong reputation for complex litigation across many industry sectors, both in the UK and internationally. Our work extends beyond simply pursuing and defending legal rights at court. We also help clients deal with business critical investigations, regulatory problems and strategic risk situations.

As a PSL, you will be an integral part of the dispute resolution team to support the development of those in the team. You will identify knowledge and skills gaps in the team and the individuals within it. You will be responsible for devising a comprehensive and varied training plan to address these needs and for personally delivering or managing these initiatives; ensuring attendees are actively engaged and participating.

You will be the trusted curator of departmental knowledge and be a source of technical know-how, conducting legal research to stay on top of developments in the commercial litigation field. You’ll disseminate your knowledge to others, educating them on aspects relevant to their role and facilitating the sharing of knowledge within the team.

It will be important to be aware of the dispute resolution unit’s strategy, contributing your expertise to its delivery.

In your role as a PSL, you will play an active role across the team as a role model and actively set the cultural tone within the unit, inspiring others by your actions and making it a great place to work. A wider interest in modern, training practices would also be of benefit.


As a Professional Support Lawyer in our Dispute Resolution team, you will ideally have relevant experience working on or in connection with contentious matters.

You should be proactive and technically strong, as well as being passionate about sharing technical know-how, as you will be the go-to person for the team. You should have the confidence to debate technical issues and the ability to encourage our team.

You should therefore be a strong team player who is able to manage a varied workload effectively. You will need to be well organised, as your skills will be in demand from various members of the team.
