You will be expected to manage a workload of children’s safeguarding matters including undertaking advocacy and providing high quality advice for internal clients. We are looking for someone who is able to provide support and guidance to less experienced team members as well as supervising the Children’s Safeguarding Team alongside the Senior Lawyer and Deputising for the Senior Lawyer as and when required.
The London Borough of Barking & Dagenham have a track record of helping team members develop their professional expertise in children’s safeguarding and encourage in house advocacy.

The role is a permanent position, grade PO6, offering between £44,607 - £47,511 depending on experienceHome working/flexible working offered, with the majority of the legal team working from home due to the current circumstances however flexibility will continue to be offered (The Council is considering a majority-based working from home service)
All applicants must be a qualified solicitor, legal executive or barrister with a current practising certificate.
Additionally, candidates must have worked previously in local authority due to the nature of the work including public care proceedings matters, and understanding general local authorities processes as well as management aspects of the position. Ideally the successful candidate will have held a similar position of authority within a childcare local government team.
