The Court of Protection Team has grown rapidly and they are now looking to invest further with the addition of an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor/Associate to help manage existing Deputyships, service SLAs with Local Authorities and develop the caseload of the team. They form part of the wider Wills, Trusts and Estates team, running their caseloads electronically and adopt a team approach to all their clients, bridging the geographical gaps.

You will be responsible for running Court of Protection matters independently and for furthering the development of junior colleagues. You will work closely with the head of department and team manager to grow the team and ensure excellent client service. Work closely with the Sector Lead for the office in which you are based, in promoting the firm and its services with intermediaries and other work referral sources and assist with developing relationships with the existing network of intermediaries and with new contacts. You will manage your own caseload of Court of Protection matters including Deputyships, applications for lifetime gifting/IHT planning, applications for statutory wills and expert witness reports for deputyship costs in litigation matters. Assist other case handlers in the team and wider department with their cases as may be required. Supervise and develop the skills of other team members, prepare and file various correspondence, notes and documentation and assist with marketing the services of the team and wider department. This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.

With a keen interest and vast experience in all aspects of Court of Protection law, being STEP qualified or Member of SFE would be advantageous. A following of work is not required for more senior applicants but a caseload of personal Deputyships which the applicant would bring with them would be advantageous. Excellent time management and organisation skills, able to multi-task, prioritise and work to strict deadlines and targets.
