Our client is looking for a strong contentious construction paralegal for an initial 6 month role, but it could extend beyond that.
The Paralegal will ideally be experienced in dealing with construction matters and able to use that technical knowledge and experience in the role. He or she will be responsible for document management and analysis, assisting partners, associates and trainees with interviewing witnesses and preparing witness statements, chronologies and narratives, carrying out legal and technical research, preparing exhibits to witness statements and bundles for pleadings and other related tasks. The Paralegal may also be required to assist with drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments, collateral warranties and other related documents. A knowledge of JCT, NEC3/4 and FIDIC contracts would be useful. Familiarity and comfort with operating a range of computerised document review and storage systems, and an energetic 'can-do' attitude, are essential for the role.
The Paralegal will be assisting on a range of complex construction disputes including adjudications and arbitrations on major domestic and overseas infrastructure projects including World Cup stadiums and major domestic and international airports and passenger railways. The non-contentious work involves drafting and negotiating construction documentation on major international infrastructure projects, as well as providing construction advice on major building projects in the UK, often for public sector clients. Many of the projects on which the team work use JCT, NEC-based and FIDIC forms of contract. We advise on contract strategy and risks, procurement and tendering, partnering and financing.
The ideal candidate will be available as soon as possible.
