Our client is looking for a strong knowledge lawyer with extensive shipping legal knowledge to work closely with the Marine, Trade and Energy team and the wider knowledge management team to develop innovative ways in which better to serve their clients.

Shipping legal knowledge is needed as is a solid understanding of the various IT platforms used to assist in litigation, case management and marketing.

The role will suit a confident and enthusiastic mid or senior-level individual who is committed to providing the best and most efficient possible service to clients.

Duties will involve:

*Identifying opportunities to improve knowledge or information services and systems in line with the Knowledge Strategy.
*Analysing the various IT solutions on offer and how best to apply them to the Marine, Trade and Energy team.
*Providing high level input on the team's strategy, analysing and keeping the team informed about legal issues as they arise.
*Planning and delivering knowledge and information projects and identifying metrics to measure their success.
*Building strong relationships with stakeholders and teams to understand and manage expectations and increase engagement in knowledge initiatives.
*Maintaining knowledge systems, working with vendors and content owners to ensure the quality of the content and improve ease of access for users.
*Supporting legal and central teams in the collection and sharing of knowledge, information and best practice.
*Assisting with the formation of a database of precedent documents for both non-contentious and contentious work, particularly in relation to yachts and super yachts.

Essential and desirable criteria
*Successful applicants will have current experience in a knowledge or information service, ideally within a law firm in the shipping, marine and aviation sector.
*Knowledge of and familiarity with shipping law and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.
*Highly IT literate, confident user of MS Office and legal and business information systems with experience of SharePoint or similar platforms.
*Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work and deliver to tight or changing deadlines whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
*A proactive and collaborative team member with a professional, user focussed approach.
*Facilitates and manages change.
*Demonstrates excellent communication skills, understands the need to work in partnership with lawyers and support staff, for the benefit of clients.
