Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Solicitor
My client is a large local authority legal team in the South West of England. This legal team are seeking to add an interim Solicitor to their team to assist with general commercial contracts & procurement work.
This is an on-going assignment with a guaranteed length of at least 4 months. Full time applicants are preferred but the hiring manager will consider part time applications provided a minimum of three days is worked each week and all three days are office based. For full time applicants, homeworking can be offered after an initial bedding in period, and is expected to be no more than 2 days per week.
The Council are surrounded by historic landmarks with nearby cities winning multiple awards for the vibrant lifestyles they offer residents.
This large team of circa 40 lawyers work on behalf of a diverse range of clients, including not only the Council but also the Fire Service, Charities and the Police. Team members are regularly nominated for national awards and have built strong relationships with a variety of government agencies, trusts and groups allowing staff to work on complex and interesting work.
The commercial team advise regularly on large PFI projects, council initiatives, city centre re-developments, regeneration projections and high value procurements, with the successful applicant expected to manage a caseload of similar high profile matters.
Duties will include:
- Drafting commercial documents including: non-disclosure agreements, loan agreements, infrastructure agreements, finance agreements, joint ventures and public sector partnerships
- Giving general commercial and compliance advice on projects and proposals
- Advising on contracts and procurement, including advising specifically on: public sector regulations, utilities contract regulations, concession contracts regulations, procurement compliance, major projects (constructions and infrastructure, housing, energy and environmental), services for Community Care and schools, NHS agreements as well as general commercial matters
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEx with a current practicing certificate. The candidate will need a firm understanding of commercial law and will ideally have public sector experience.
Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of £50 - £55 per hour, (Inside IR35).
