Corporate Real Estate Lawyer, Partner to £750,000
Real estate is a core practice at the London office of this US headquartered law firm which is also a major (dirt and corporate) real estate player in the US. The team has won numerous awards in the UK and in the US, and is consistently ranked at a top tier real estate practice in the directories.
Although the real estate team acts for noted property companies and undertakes some significant development matters, the work in London is predominately private equity-led investment with some strong niches in, for example, hotels. The real estate team is full-service and is supported by strong funds, construction, property litigation, employment, financial services regulatory and tax.
Existing corporate real estate matters consist predominantly of M&A and joint venture work with some real estate fund formation. The matters are currently handled in a slightly ad hoc manner by the real estate team itself as well as by more generalist corporate and funds partners. However, the firm now considers that it would be more efficient to hire a specialist corporate lawyer, with strong real estate-led M&A and JV experience, to help it both transact and grow pure corporate real estate matters.
The firm will consider either a connected lateral partner or, just possibly, an exceptional senior associate - perhaps blocked by business case at their current firm - to whom it will consider immediate partnership. For more experienced partners there is an immediate leadership opportunity.
A following will be required but the firm is very sensible in terms of its approach and there is existing work and there will be more much to play for with a dedicated team. In terms of the success of previous hires, the partners who have flourished have previously worked at well regarded city firms or other US firms, and have used those brands to win work rather than simply servicing institutional clients. The firm has been very stable in London and culturally the firm is supportive and properly integrated with the US.
