PRIVATE EQUITY LAWYER - Partner – US Firm – All equity partnership to £1 million
Globally, this elite US law firm has seen a 48% increase in revenue since 2012, and 2016 has been another good year for the firm. This law firm has a clear international growth plan and has opened a series of new offices. The London office is well established and is full service. There have been a number of high profile partner hires and the London office has a lot of positive momentum behind it in terms of brand and US management support. Key US partners are regularly in London/Europe and there are resident US partners permanently based in the London office. This structure and overall cross selling culture has meant that over 30% of the work undertaken on the transactional side in the London office is referral work from other offices. As with all law firms, partners are encouraged to cross sell and partners benefit financially from the overall analysis of “what they have done for others”. This ingredient has been key to the success of the London office and the process of internationalisation of the firm. Over 60% of the firms lawyers are transactional lawyers.
The firm is looking to recruit a private equity partner or team to join the existing group in London. Currently, there are two private equity partners in London supported by a larger London corporate practice. The team has been very successful and has leveraged off European and key US contacts (with over 30% of the work being referral work from the US). The global team focuses on representing private equity funds and management group buyouts, minority investments, development capital and growth equity investments and similar transactions. The firm is recognised as a leading corporate firm in the US and made some significant corporate hires in the US in 2016.
The firm represents a number of private equity firms and is counsel to over 300 private investment fund organisations. The firm has developed strong relationships with over 4,500 private company clients with an emphasis on emerging companies particularly in technology and life sciences. In the last year, the firm handled over 200 M&A deals. The firm is regularly in the spot light acting for some of the fastest growing and most attractive companies in the world.
The firm is an all equity partnership and has a system of no origination credit allocation.
No real following required, just the hunger to build a practice and a track record of business development.
