Contentious Trusts and Probate specialist - Exeter
NEW - a fantastic senior level vacancy for an experienced, specialist Contentious Trusts and Probate lawyer, taking an absolutely key role as part of our clients wider very strong Litigation team!
Our client is one of Exeter's leading law firms, a 'heavyweight' practice in every sense of the word. They have had a fantastic few years, continually developing the firm's client base, hiring excellent people, and building the firm's reputation both locally, regionally and increasingly on a national level, including all sorts of accolades and awards. They are perhaps THE firm other lawyers want to work for in the Devon market at the moment.
This is a new opportunity to be a key part of their well-known Inheritance and Trust Disputes Team which is tier 1 rated in the latest L500 etc. You will be working alongside a well-known leading Partner in this area, and a wider team, and the role will encompass the full range of work including claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, disputes over the validity of a will, usually on grounds of incapacity or undue influence, claims under the doctrine of proprietary estoppel and disputes between executors and trustees. Every day is different but the quality of the work is consistent and the existing team is always getting lots of work in so they are always busy and are certainly looking to grow and develop further.
The ideal candidate will need to be an experienced solicitor with perhaps at least 4 or 5 years experience in this area as well as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a focus on exceptional client care. Existing membership of ACTAPS would be great but isn't essential at this stage but the firm would be looking for you to have sufficient experience so that you could perhaps obtain membership perhaps within say 12 months of joining the team.
It goes without saying the position will suit someone who is personable and able to engage sympathetically with a range of private individuals who are often elderly and/or bereaved. You will need to be familiar with and have experience of using alternative forms of dispute resolution, in particular attending mediation appointments for example.
