My client is a global online payments business who are seeking an experienced Data Privacy Legal Counsel to ensure all data activity aligns with company departments and appropriate entities comply with all applicable data protection and data-related regulations globally. You will report to the Head of Data Privacy who has a vast wealth of 20 yrs PQE gained within Privacy Law relating to payments, where you'll learn a great deal of experience working closely together with the business team in regulatory transactions, product development initiatives and compliance matters.

The Role
You will report to the Head of Data Privacy and oversee procedures and processes on a global basis whilst working on regional and local privacy and data-related laws. This role requires you to process regulatory filings and authorizations, international data transfer rules, outsourcing laws, employee compliance, data breach notification requirements, data access requests. This role requires you to implement GDPR matters and ensuring all activities are compliant with the new requirements by May 2018, this will be an ongoing compliance matter. You will review existing client agreements which mainly are partners and vendors to comply with the EU GDPR and BCRs and update and maintain privacy notices. Another element of your role requires you to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and identify business as well as technical infrastructure requirements resulting from the EU GDPR and work with business and technical teams. You will lead on negotiations with third parties relating to data privacy matters, working closely with business and legal colleagues to guide the decision making process as it relates to data privacy and ensure that cross-business agreement is gained and the negotiated position aligns with local and group data privacy policies.

The Candidate
Must have a minimum of 5 yrs PQE gained in privacy and data protection ideally within financial services sector and products payments product development. Must have thorough experience of GDPR relating to UK a protection regime, EU Data Protection Directive, ePrivacy Directive and other privacy and data regulatory frameworks;. This role require s a self-motivated Lawyer with ability to excel at multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. Attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a small team environment as the office culture is excellent where having a sense of humour is encouraged to shine.
