About the Firm
The Firm’s nationally recognised team of environmental lawyers has in-depth knowledge of existing and incoming legislation, advising on current compliance requirements and working with clients to plan ahead at a strategic level and budget accordingly. The Firm also project manage environmental compliance on a multi-jurisdictional basis, providing fully integrated, practical advice through a single point of contact. Covering issues including BREXIT, waste, REACH, biocides, permits and contamination, our client has some of the leading experts in the field, advising some of the Firm’s largest clients.
You will provide environmental and health & safety advice on real estate and corporate transactions, working as necessary with international environmental colleagues on multi-jurisdictional transactions and projects.
There are very few roles which offer such a varied portfolio of work, in what is a key and growing specialism for the Firm.
You will work with other members of the non-contentious environment team, and also with other teams such as real estate, planning, construction and health & safety where the legal requirements often interact. The focus of the role is predominantly non contentious environmental work although there may be some opportunity to do some health and safety work.
You will find the work varied and challenging, for example advising clients on the impact of REACH and biocides legislation, EU ETS and producer responsibility legislation. You will also draft and negotiate environmental provisions for incorporation in documentation, allocating responsibility for potential environmental liability in transactions.
In addition, you will be involved in training, both externally for clients and internally for colleagues.
Skills and experience:
Key skills are an ability to research in a thorough and focussed manner, an enthusiasm for and interest in this area of law, and a commercial and practical attitude.
You must be able to meet client needs and build exceptional relationships with internal and external contacts. You will have good communication and influencing skills together with technical skills and knowledge. You will enjoy working as part of a team but be equally able to manage your own matters efficiently and promptly. You will be client centred, managing quality, risk and finance. Good drafting skills are required.
