Our client is a very highly regarded midtown firm with one of the largest private client practices in London. It now seeks a 5pqe+ associate to join the Private Client Department.

The team deals with the whole spectrum of private client work, including tax (international and domestic), trusts (international and domestic), estate planning, wills, succession, probate, landed estates, capacity and immigration.

They advise a diverse range of clients from across the world, including individuals (entrepreneurs, private investors, those with established wealth and those who have made it themselves), families, family offices and trustees.

Many clients are internationally mobile or have foreign interests (or both) and require detailed advice on:
*Residence and domicile
*Planning around their residence and domicile status or changes to their status
*The remittance basis of taxation
*Cross-border estate planning
*The taxation of offshore structures (including trusts and companies) and benefits received from them
*Tax advice on different investment classes
*Structuring residential property ownership

The main focus of the role will be on advisory and, now and then, transactional matters and will involve close liaison with other teams within the Firm.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the international aspects of UK tax and will be a technically capable tax and private client practitioner. Your experience will include advising on:
*The transfer of assets code
*The CGT and income tax settlements codes, including the changes introduced by Finance Acts 2017 and 2018
*The remittance basis of taxation
*The taxation of corporate gains
*Excluded property status
*The statutory residence test
*Domicile and deemed domicile
*The taxation of UK residential property (inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax and stamp duty land tax, annual tax on enveloped dwellings) and structuring the ownership of such property
*The UK taxation of different investment types

You should also be familiar with advising in the context of trusts, structuring and international succession issues.
