The Team

The Firm have a thriving, dynamic three-partner tax team based in Reading, Solent and Birmingham.  The work of the team can broadly be divided into four categories:

Corporate: a significant proportion of the work involves supporting the Firm’s national team of over 100 corporate lawyers.  They commonly advise on the tax implications of private equity transactions and transaction structuring, M&A, tax planning for management teams, reorganisations and restructuring including debt restructuring and demergers and advice on joint venture projects.

Venture Capital: this Firm have one of the UK’s leading VCT/EIS tax practices and, as such, a significant proportion of time is dedicated to advising investors and, in some cases, individual shareholders on their qualifying investments.  The team structure and restructure investments to ensure compliance and frequently engage with HMRC to seek advance assurances and to pre-empt the impact of the continuously evolving legislative framework in this area.

Real Estate: the Firm employ over 200 real estate practitioners.  They support those practitioners by advising on SDLT, LBTT, VAT, capital allowances and the CIS.  The Firm have a large number of developer clients whom they structure development transactions for, giving rise to complex real estate project based tax issues.

Employee Incentives: the Firm design and implement a broad range of employee incentivisation schemes.  They also advise on the exercise and restructuring of those schemes in the context of M&A and private equity deal structuring.

The Role

The Firm’s dynamic and ambitious Tax team are looking to grow and recruit a Solicitor to join the team in either Birmingham, Reading or Solent. They have a thriving practise, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Firm’s award-winning Tax Partners on a full spectrum of work. You will assist on large, complex transactions, acting for high-profile clients.

You will ideally have completed at least one seat of your training contract in a specialist Tax team and spent the early stage of your career being exposed to complex Tax matters.
