Payroll Advisor.

An experienced Payroll Advisor is required to join a leading international full-service law firm in their Liverpool city centre office. The role will be to oversee the payroll and benefits provision for the firm's staff, managing the quality of service from relevant providers to deliver the accurate and timely payment of salaries, and efficient processing of pensions and benefits administration. Additionally, this role manages relationships with a payroll provider, pension broker, and benefits advisor.
 
You will be required to have previous experience of operating an in-house payroll, and good working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures gained at Officer level, knowledge of current PAYE and NI legislation, excellent numeracy skills and ability to do manual calculations, and good skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Thomsons Online Benefits experience would be advantageous.
 
Duties include:
  • Overseeing the efficient running of the monthly in-house payroll and related administrative functions, through close liaison with various stakeholders and our internal Accounts team
  • Confirming accuracy of all data input to payroll
  • Reviewing exceptions, investigating anomalies, and carrying out payroll processing
  • Working with the payroll provider to implement changes to process when required (including year-end processing)
  • Being responsible for the delivery of the monthly payroll (c.650 employees); ensuring the service is delivered in line with the agreed SLA's
  • Ensuring integrity of the payroll system, data, and functionality; ensuring system updates and upgrades are made where required
  • Working with the accounting team to help with any complex queries on the account reconciliations
  • Performing internal audits of various payroll areas, where appropriate, for external and internal auditors
  • Keeping up to date and ensures compliance on key laws, proactively liaising with Talent to identify payroll changes and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations as well as internal business procedures
  • Implementing changes to benefits from our online benefits portal, checking, and reconciling these with payroll
  • Designing effective reporting tools and metrics, and communicating key business trends and implications on a regular basis
  • Managing the relationship with suppliers on service and operational delivery issues, acting as the first point of contact
  • Promoting engagement and communication of the firm's benefits programme
  • Acting as an adviser to other Talent team members on the interpretation of policy
  • Project management of developments or changes within the Payroll & Benefits arena as required
