Payroll Advisor.

An experienced payroll advisor is required to join a leading international, full service law firm in its Liverpool city centre office.

The role will be to oversee the payroll and benefits provision for the firms' staff, managing the quality of service from relevant providers to deliver the accurate and timely payment of salaries, and efficient processing of pensions and benefits administration. Additionally, this role manages relationships with a payroll provider, pension broker, and benefits advisor.
You will be required to have previous experience of operating an in-house payroll and good working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures gained at officer level.

You will also have knowledge of current PAYE and NI legislation, excellent numeracy skills, and ability to do manual calculations, and good skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Thomsons Online Benefits experience would be advantageous.
Duties include:
  • Overseeing the efficient running of the monthly in-house payroll and related administrative functions, through close liaison with various stakeholders and our internal Accounts team
  • Confirm accuracy of all data input to payroll
  • Review exceptions, investigate anomalies and carry out payroll processing
  • Work with the payroll provider to implement changes to process when required (including year-end processing)
  • Responsible for the delivery of the monthly payroll (c.650 employees); ensuring the service is delivered in line with the agreed SLA's
  • Ensures integrity of the payroll system, data and functionality; ensures system updates and upgrades are made where required
  • Works with the accounting team to help with any complex queries on the account reconciliations
  • Performs internal audits of various payroll areas, where appropriate, for external and internal auditors
  • Keeps up to date and ensures compliance on key laws, proactively liaising with Talent to identify payroll changes and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations as well as internal business procedures
  • Implements changes to benefits from our online benefits portal and checks and reconciles these with payroll
  • Designs effective reporting tools and metrics and communicates key business trends and implications on a regular basis
  • Manage the relationship with suppliers on service and operational delivery issues, acting as first point of contact
  • Promotes engagement and communication of the firm's benefits programme
  • Act as adviser to other Talent team members on interpretation of policy
  • Project management of developments or changes within the Payroll & Benefits arena as required
